Pharmacy2U was launched in November 1999 as the UK’s first online pharmacy service. Since the launch Pharmacy2U has continually developed it's service and it now provides a convenient, confidential, efficient and professional service to patients and consumers.

Pharmacy2U - Experience

Pharmacy2U was the first company in the UK to operate mail order and online pharmacy. Pharmacy2U has developed unique procedures and protocols that allow Pharmacy2U's pharmacists to check the suitability of a medicine for a particular patient and ensure its safe delivery. Qualified pharmacists supervise Pharmacy2U's service and they are members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and the National Pharmaceutical Association.

Pharmacy2U - Innovation in Healthcare

In March 2001 Pharmacy2U was invited to run a pilot on behalf of the NHS to electronify the paper based prescription process. In March 2002 Pharmacy2U was the first company in the UK to successfully transmit an electronic prescription between the GP, Pharmacy and the Prescription Pricing Authority. Pharmacy2U now has GP Practices from all over the country sending prescriptions to Pharmacy2U. In Jan 2003 we received authorisation from the Department of Health to continue and extend the pilot, and Pharmacy2U are committed to meeting the government's objectives of having 50% of all prescriptions sent electronically by 2005.

The NHS-run Electronic Transfer of Prescription (ETP) pilots ceased operation in September 2003, pending decisions from the National Programme for NHS IT regarding how these successful pilots can be translated into a national approach. Patients continue to benefit from home delivery pharmacy with Pharmacy2U through our electronic Prescription Management Service (ePMS) solution.
