Rohan's Heritage

In 1975, Rohan changed the clothing industry.

Rohan's clothing designers were the first to comprehensively and coherently break with tradition: traditional fabrics, traditional styling, traditional compromises with functionality.

Instead, Rohan designed from truly blank sheets of paper. Rohan asked themselves - and their customers - what they wanted from their clothing. Rohan introduced fabrics and techniques never before associated with clothes.

The results: a number of iconic designs, a pioneering culture, a maverick reputation, exceptionally loyal customers, and an ambition - to be recognised as designers of leading-edge performance clothing around the world.

Rohan's Design Expertise

Writing in the 1980’s, Rohan's original designer said: "At Rohan, we design clothing the same way a good engineer designs a piece of electronic equipment - or an architect, a building. We consider what functions our design will perform - what the user’s expectations will be - and how we can provide more than he expects…"

20 years later, this fundamental aspect of Rohan's design philosophy remains unchanged.

Rohan have moved on, though, in lots of other ways.

Rohan's range is much bigger now - and Rohan design for women as well.

Rohan offer the traveller everything they might need to make their journey - whoever they are and wherever that journey may lead.

All Rohan's clothing - and that includes Rohan's business suits, underwear, waterproof jackets, formal shirts and even our socks - is imbued with the same passion to excel. Rohan have never been satisfied with second-rate and Rohan's thirst for continuous, constant improvement is just as great as when Rohan's journey began.

Rohan still design and specify everything themselves. Rohan don't 'out source' - Rohan don’t trust anyone except themselves and Rohan never buy off-the-shelf designs. Rohan know that this would be cheaper - and easier.

But at Rohan, 'easier' is not in the vocabulary and 'just about OK' - well, it just won't do.

Rohan has always followed its own path - in Rohan's designs, Rohan's fabrics and Rohan's priorities - like many of their customers, Rohan find travelling alone is often the most enlightening experience.

If you are not satisfied with the performance of one of Rohan's products, return it to Rohan head office or your nearest store for a repair, replacement or refund.

Damage due to wear and tear will be repaired at a reasonable charge.
